We'll do church without you hate church. And it's a wonderfully alarming thing to be able to say to people. I was at a party recently and someone said, oh, what do you do? And I said, I worked for a church and my pastor. And they said to me, why? You're such a nice guy. Why would you do that? She said, oh, I hate the church. And I said, oh, well, you know what? We're the perfect

church for you then, because we do church for those who hate church. And he came along.

Another fantastic guest. If you're new to Inspired, it's all about sharing my mates, my contacts, just people I've

met over the years who are doing incredible stuff in all sorts of walks of life. That's what I love,

the utter variety. And it includes people that have just been through tough times, done incredible

stuff, seeing God's faithfulness, despite the sucker of life. And, you know, we're bombarded

with so much bad news so it's

good to hear stuff that leaves us inspired that's why we call it inspired and i've no doubt you're

going to be inspired this week because we've got a good mate with me now it's uh chris anna welcome chris

oh thanks i'm so good to be wood you're so excited it's a part of the world but yeah no brilliant

so chris is calling it oh we're on the line from Nairobi.

I met Chris through a mutual friend, Mike Wilmot, about four years ago.

And then he hosted me over New Year. I was preaching in just north of Nairobi.

And I got to hang out with his family, with Abby and the kids as well.

And Chris is a church planter. He's a Christian leader. He runs set up Renewal Church Nairobi. I love it. It's basically it's a church for people who hate church or people who are disenchanted or disillusioned or checked out. And so I love how clear thinking he is, how he expresses himself. He describes himself as a bemused Christian leader. We had a good game of tennis. He's a sports billy. And anyway, that's enough, I think, by means of intro, Chris. Tell us about your background. Did you grow up a follow of Jesus from the get-go? I grew up around the church, and I often say nothing has done more to put me off being in the church than growing up in it.

I don't think this was just my experience is what I hear from people.

So I grew up around the church and I kind of believed in God, but I'm not sure that was shaping me.

I don't think it was changing me.

I don't know if you see this,

but I think we've made this category of people

where it's possible to be a Christian
