as we look at the confirmation of Jesus' birth that happened between a visit of Mary, Jesus' mother,

to her cousin, Elizabeth. We're going to get to that in just a moment. Now, friends, as the Christmas

Our Lord now God, as we read this account of Mary's visit to Elizabeth, we ask you to teach

us, to guide us, to give us insight into what you were doing in that moment and how that

kind of ripples out through time into our day and age and helps us see you more clearly.

We ask it in Jesus' name. Amen.

Now, friends, you remember a few days ago, we read the account of Elizabeth and her husband,

Zechariah, receiving the news that they would be parents to a son named John, who was to be the forerunner of the Messiah, the one who would tell people the Messiah is on the way.

Now, we look at this passage today, and it brings together that story and the story we read in the last episode about Mary being told by the angel Gabriel that she is going to bear the son of God, the actual

Messiah. Now what we see in those two events is that the same angel, Gabriel, came to both of them.
