Hello, my friends, and Merry Christmas. It is such an honor to be able to spend time with each of you, each week in the Scriptures.

Today is a different day. It's a different week as we look forward to the celebration of Christmas this year.

And so I wanted to do something a little bit different. In years past, we have

we've dived into scripture. We've studied Luke 2 in the coming of the shepherds. We've studied

Matthew 2 in the coming of the wise men. We've studied Christmas among the Nephites, the fact that

he saved lives in his birth, not only in his death. We have studied Contique de Noel, the beautiful lyrics

of Oh Holy Night in the original French. We have studied the scriptural texts behind Handel's

Messiah. We've had a lot of Christmases together. Those of you that have been with me since

the beginning, this is our sixth Christmas, our sixth year. And that's kind of hard to believe.

You've been through the long haul with me, and I am grateful for that. I honor you for your

perseverance. I'm grateful that we've been able to have all this time together. And yet, I laugh

every Christmas thinking, how did members of the First Presidency do the First Presidency Christmas

devotional every year? Lately, they've changed things up and they have apostles and members of the 70

and auxiliary presidents giving talks about Christmas as well. But I remember as a child, it seemed like

it was the first presidency only

because it was their Christmas devotional.

And to think of President Hinkley, how do you give 20 different talks

about Christmas?

The season itself is inexhaustible.

Preparing for it sometimes can feel exhausting,

but the messages of Christmas are truly inexhaustible.

And to be able to think and speak and sing and praise the Savior during this time of year
