I couldn't have imagined a cooler job a former photographer and I spent five days

backpacking into the Wind River Range for a series on melting glaciers which y'all

got an award for and Yeah, yep.

And we touched a tranquilized grizzly bear

for a story on predator conflicts.

Another photographer shared my little Toyota Tacoma

with me in the red desert and the dead of winter

and drank boons-farm wine from ceramic teacups and a

sheep wagon for a story about the abject loneliness of Peruvian sheep herders.

Hopefully easy enough for people to understand.

You know, you think about how am I going to tell this story to my buddy tonight at the bar.

Yeah.

And however you're going to tell that story is how you write it.

I had a friend that came out from New England who worked in their newspaper and one day he said

Christina I don't think people that live their whole lives in the West understand what you guys have.

Right. And I was well into adulthood before it really started processing.

This ability to just find a road and camp on it wasn't something that everybody got.

And that's a special beast.
