Summary

*This episode originally aired in 2017. I made a new intro/ reaction to it. It's my first conversation ever with my now very dear friend. Look out for an updated conversation between us next week.  Christine went to film school and simultaneously began on YouTube when she was just 18 and has been uploading to her chanel ever since. Her videos range from home decor to film photography to make-up to design to music. We get into everything from a cultivating a career as a freelancer to recovering after a tough breakup to handling aging and body image and finding a community. We also talk about style, religion, family, travel and more. I loved meeting her and having this meandering conversation which I think you'll love too.

Hello, let it out, how's it going to go. How's it going? How are you? What is new? Did you get any presents?

0:28.6

Cole, perhaps? No, you're all good. Welcome back. I'm happy to be here.

0:38.1

I'm just popping in to tell you that we're re-airing an old episode with my now close friend,

0:49.4

Christine Neuen, a friend of the show.

1:02.2

You know her, you love her. Maybe you don't. You're about to. When we recorded this episode that you're about to hear, we weren't close friends. We weren't really friends at all,

1:08.3

I'd say we were pre-close, pre-friends, and you hear us hit it off. What you're

1:16.5

about to hear is actually our first ever conversation. And we didn't become close friends until

1:25.0

years later when we lived in the same city. We kept in touch and had met

1:31.8

several times before I moved here, but we, yeah, it didn't become close until I got here. And I

1:39.5

often say this, but she was actually my only friend in L.A. when I first moved here. Yeah, I think that is true.

1:49.0

Closest friend I had, certainly, and a great one to have. She's the most supportive and giving person

1:57.6

that I've ever met. And honestly, my friendship with her really especially that year moving

2:04.8

here in the midst of the pandemic in 2020 really changed the course of my life and right now

2:11.6

the course of her life is actually about to change because she's about to have a baby. And I'd been reflecting a lot about

2:20.6

her and I'm just so stoked for her. And I was thinking a lot about the passing of time and the

2:29.9

life cycle, if you will. And I asked her if we could make a time capsule of this time. And so we

2:38.6

actually recorded a new episode on New Year's Day of this year, 26, which will come out soon.

2:47.1

You'll hear that. We filmed it at my apartment. And I figured in the meantime I would re-air this one because in preparation for that, for interviewing her again, I re-listened to the other times that she'd been on the podcast.

3:03.2

She's been on twice before.

3:05.3

And it's nuts, you know.

3:07.3

It's really nuts to go back and listen to look at or listen to or read our old work.

3:15.9

But if I could get past the ego of that, it was just really sweet to hear us hitting it off for the first time.
