Chris Voss is the author of a book called Never Split the Difference.

It's all about negotiation.

He spent 24 years in the FBI.

He was the chief international hostage and kidnapping

negotiator. So he has a ton of experience. And really what this book taught me is

that negotiation is so much deeper than I thought. I always thought, you know, you sit down at the table with your opponent

and you kind of haggle back and forth on price and eventually you find something that feels comfortable

and you agree and you get on with your life.

That was a completely naive approach to this whole thing.

There are so many little tactics and proven psychology that you can deploy when you're negotiating with someone to get a better price.

There is so many times when we use negotiation that we just don't even think about it.

Like for example, I mean there's obvious stuff right where you just want a better

price in the car but there's other things like maybe you want a raise at your job or maybe you want to
