United States dangerously close to defaulting on obligations.

I'm called the debt ceiling.

Of course, Congress, they ride in at the last second, then they save us from

the catastrophe. They just don't know how this happened. Don't know how this catastrophe came

upon. How in the world do we get to the precipice of a default? What's up to us to save us?

We're so lucky to have Congress. We're so fortunate that they were able to do this.

So, justifiably, the Republicans say, look, you're spending too much money.

As a nation, we're spending too much money.

We shouldn't have 31.5 trillion dollars in debt.

That's redonculus.

I don't disagree.

It's redonculus.

The Democrats, they say, okay, we hear you, but this is debt.

We already owe this, and we've already made obligations, and so we have to be able to raise that debt limit so that we can pay soldiers and pay the VA and make Social Security payments and Medicare payments, Medicaid payments,

excuse me. We kind of have to do this because we are obligated. And so the Republicans go, oh, well, you want to make those payments to you?

Well, you're going to have to, you're going to have to make some cuts.

And the Democrats go, well, you want to make cuts.

How dare you try to stifle our spending?

And so then we end up with this stupid standoff, this brinksmanship.

And now we get word that it sounds like there's a deal.
