When it comes to finding a love that will last you need to be a little cold blood.

I know that doesn't sound very nice.

It may not even make sense to you at first but hear me out.

You'd be amazed by the number of people I've talked to on my radio program who saw right in front of their eyeballs the warning signs before they married.

Did they heed them?

No.

Ignore them?

Yes.

Then they call me years later complaining about those problems they ignored in the dating time but didn't have the maturity or the guts to be cold blood.

To be cold blooded enough to confront the problems.

Nine out of ten times marriages fall apart because people either picked the wrong person or married for the wrong reasons.

They neglected to take the first step toward a happy, healthy marriage.

They didn't choose wisely all the time I say on my program that the absolute best perfect marriages.

Yeah, they exist and those are the ones where people chose wisely and then treated kindly.

You know, I got that phrase from a listener quite a while ago who happened to be gay and brilliantly wrote me a letter saying that great relationships no matter your sexual orientation was pretty easy.

If you boiled it down to choosing wisely and treating kindly, as I said, brilliant.

And ever since I've encouraged my listeners to date thoughtfully and ultimately pick a spouse who has the character traits that would make a good life together even possible.
