Now, to today's story. Glenn and Justin Helzer were raised as strict Mormons. How strict?

The grandfather preached nightly. He even claimed to have been visited by Jesus in the flesh.

At age 14, Glenn says he started hearing voices, and in the home where he was raised,

where his grandfather was talking to Jesus and his mother thought he was a young prophet,

his voices were encouraged instead of seeking help. He became the spiritual head of the family.

They all deferred to Glenn as the leader.

After graduating, Glenn served in the National Guard in Texas, became a missionary in Brazil,

and later a stockbroker for Morgan Stanley Dean Whitter.

Glenn married Anne in April of 1993.

They had two daughters before separating in June of 1996.

The stockbroker job lasted until August of 1998 when he went on disability, a diagnosis of bipolar disorder.

The following year, in 1999, had a murder mystery dinner party, ironically,

hosted by a Mormon congregation in Walnut Creek, California, Glenn and his brother Justin

met Don Goodman. Dawn was a recent convert to the Mormon church. Justin and Don hit it off
