We've got an esteemed guest, a returning guest, a man who is perhaps one of the preeminent authorities on Alistair Crowley.

He's an author, a podcaster, highly successful podcaster, and a filmmaker,

and a man who really hits many topics in the true crime and basically other genres. But we're

here today to talk about one topic that he's done a tremendous amount of work on.

Again, that's Alistair Crawley and his influence on modern culture, both popular and some

other aspects of it.

Good to be with you again, Jack.

I guess it's a good starting point to reference how it appears in, and especially in recent years, how Satanism as a concept

seems to have gone very mainstream. And I'm thinking of that rather shocking performance at the Grammys in

2023 with that Sam Smith deal, which was basically looked like an occult ceremony.

And a lot of people are going, even the uninitiated to the topic are going, what's going on here?

And a lot of it can be traced to one, Alistair Crowley and his writings and influence, which will lay out here for the viewers of the Hannibal TV.com.

But for those of us who only heard of Crowley through the Ozzy Osbourne song

and don't have the background, can you lay out what his work was and who he was?

Well, he was born Edward Crowley, so he was born in England close to Stratford-on-Avon-Avon, where Shakespeare he was born in England, close to Stratford on Avon, where Shakespeare supposedly was

born. But he was born in 1875. He died in 1947, and he was born into kind of a Christian family.

He thought very severe. They were called the exclusive exclusive of brethren which was a subset of the

plinmouth brethren run by derby right so it dispensential dispensential asianism or whatever uh anyway

...
