Summary

Childhood obesity has tripled in the past thirty years.  Thirty percent of our children are overweight and twenty percent are considered to be obese.  This week Darlene Kvist, LN, Cassie Weness, RD and Tamara Brown, RD explain how processed and fast foods play a part in this epidemic.  They also share several great tips on which foods to feed your kids.

You know, this past summer and fall, I've had the pleasure of taking my three

grandchildren to their swimming lessons, so I've had the pleasure of taking my three grandchildren to their swimming lessons,

so I've had the opportunity to observe the size and shape of many other kids also taking their swim lessons.

And a lot of kids are in trouble with their weight, even at a very young age.

You know, many of these kids are so embarrassed about their size,

they wear T-shirts over their swimming suits.

You know, I kind of feel sad for them.

You know, I know overweight kids are usually overweight teenagers

and overweight adults.

In fact, 30% of kids are overweight and about 20% are obese.

Excess weight is the number one reason that the military rejects those who are trying to enlist.
