She did. The On January 14th, 2018, Jordan Turpin, 17 years old, escaped from her family's home and called 911 on a deactivated cell phone. She informed a dispatcher

that her parents kept her and her 12 siblings captive. Not only were the children literally shackled to their beds with chains, but they were neglected and physically abused.

The home was foul-smelling and unclean. The children were unwashed, undernourished, and their clothing was

unlaundered. The ages of the children ranged from 2 to 29. Those seven of the children were legal adults,

they were confined and treated as if they were minors.

This is the story of the

story of the events that led up to the arrest of Jordan's parents, David and Louise Turpin.

David Allen Turpin was born on October 17th, 1961.

His family was deeply devout in their faith.

This faith would shape David,

and his entire life would be influenced

and informed by Christian values.

One summer David spent the bulk of the season with his grandparents.

They moved into a house in Princeton.

Every Sunday they attended the Princeton Church of God.

The Turpin family befriended another family

who attended services there, the Robinettes.

They had three daughters, Elizabeth, Theresa, and Louise. To quote

Theresa, we were a big church family. My dad was a preacher and David's family

grew up with our family.

So Louise and David have known each other all their lives.
