Okay, well, it was fun to dream just a little bit about the possibility of Christian McCaffrey joining the Kansas City Chiefs and providing something in the backfield that the Chiefs have not had since

Kareem Hunt was in a Chief's uniform, but Christian McCaffrey has been traded

from the Carolina Panthers to the San Francisco 49ers,

who are this week's opponent for the Kansas City Chiefs.

So he'll probably be in uniform.

He'll probably play a little bit, and the Chiefs, instead of having him on their team, we'll have to try to tackle him and slow him down. The Niners have been no great shakes this year. They've had ups and downs. Trey Lance, their starting quarterback, got hurt. That was a play toward the future. Jimmy Garoppolo, their quarterback, actually makes them better this year than Trey Lance at quarterback.

Now they've added a piece that's really important.

This is a zone running football team.

Garapolo is a good quarterback.

He's been to the Super Bowl.

They lost to the Chiefs 3121.

It's the first meeting since that Super Bowl between the Chiefs and the 49ers, but we

know what the Niners are all about.

Stout defense, running game, difficult running game to defend, although they've not

been great this year, McCaffrey probably shores that up for them.

It should probably take about a month before he's up and running and up to speed with the way they run their offense in San Francisco.

So I don't really look at this week's game and go, wow, McCaffrey is the guy the chiefs have to

stop. But doggone and I wish he was a chief. And I know the price is high, but not nearly as high as what Tyree Kill cost.

The Panthers traded McCaffrey to the 49ers for a second round pick, a third round pick,

a fourth round pick, and a fifth round pick in 2024.

Tyree Kill, on the other hand, in return, the chief's got a one, a two, two fours, and a six.
