Summary
In the latest edition of the Good Morning Football Podcast, hosts Kay Adams, Kyle Brandt, Peter Schrager and Super Bowl Champion Kurt Warner look at how the Chiefs still aren't playing their best football but are getting wins. The Lions got their first win of the season and it was worth more than just a game on the field for Dan Campbell and the Michigan community. The Steelers get past the Ravens on a failed two point conversion attempt from Baltimore that will be debated all season long. The crew debates who will be the most intriguing QB down the stretch before Nate Burleson drops by. We wrap up looking ahead to tonight's Patriots-Bills matchup on Monday Night Football.

| 1:09.4 | We're going to have a whole step aerobic segment tomorrow, Kirk. Oh, my gosh. Are you going to lead it? I'm going to lead it, buddy. I got the leg warmers. Let's go. I like it. We're going to lead the show too with Broncos Chiefs. |
| 1:10.5 | Let's get after it. |
| 1:12.2 | Let's go to Arrow at the stadium. |
| 1:14.1 | We haven't seen these Chiefs in a while. |
| 1:28.3 | Been away a little bitay. And here come the Broncos. Broncos have never beaten Patrick Mahomes. Never. Seven and O. Is Denver going to show up to this game? We're trying to figure out Denver, their identity. Who are they? Do they matter? Chiefs running away with it. It really was never close after that 28 play drive got stopped. 22 to 9. And yet again, afterwards, it's almost |
| 1:34.9 | like Mahomes is kind of apologizing for a win. Take it away, Pat. |
| 1:40.3 | Yeah, I mean, obviously, we feel like we're not playing our best football. We have spurts where we're really good, and then we have spurts where we kind of have these, we're not scoring. We're not finding ways to finish drives. So definitely as a competitor, you want to be better. But I think you win football games, you win football games at the end of the day. And so for us, if we keep winning football games, defense keeps playing the way that they're playing. when the offense, we really become who we know we can be, will be a hard football team to beat. The defense, an absolute standout yet. Again, what a turnaround for them this season. Let's take a look at the AFC playoff picture, guys. Most of Week 13 is in the book, so the Patriots do not play yet. They play tonight against the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. They're the one seed, though. They play tonight. The bills will try to mess with that. |
| 2:20.3 | All four division leaders in the AFC have an 8 and 4 record after Kansas City's performance last night. So very tight, not a lot of room there at the top. Shregs, what'd you make of it? You know, the Chiefs get to win, they move on, and it's there in this fourth seed, but you feel like they're red hot and you don't want to face them come to playoffs. |
| 2:35.3 | I was curious about Denver going into this game because here was Denver coming in with a head of steam and it was the Broncos with a big win over the Chargers. Last night was a great example of teams who have been there and teams who have not been there. And I'm going to take it through three plays where it's a great version of that entire theory of I will go with the teams with the experience in big spots. Denver, they're not used to this the last few years. Certainly under Vic Fangio, they're six and five, first time. They're not going to win playoff games. You're not going to win playoff games on the road. And Kansas City did not have their best stuff on offense. The drops were still there. I'm watching Pringle drop passes. I'm watching Tyreek drop pass. It's still very confusing game on offense. And yet, this seems to be how these games are going for Kansas City. Their defense bails out the offense. And their sheer experience and know-how is getting wins in the books. They are red-hot, and yet I don't feel like they've even hit their stride as a team. Kansas City, I would not want to face them in the playoffs. They're not even playing complete football yet, but they're experienced their know-how and Denver's lack there of it, I think, was last night's story. And you wonder, too, are they going to get there? Because you looked at the beginning of the year, defense was awful, offense was really good. Now, offense, just average, defense playing really good. If they put it all together, I'm with you. The thing that always amazes me is that I think the history of Kansas City, like you said, 20 plays. We're going to go for it on fourth and two. Well, we can't beat this team kick and field goals. How many teams do you hear say that when they play against the Chiefs? The Ravens have done it numerous times. Like, we're going to go for it on every fourth down. At some point, just play football. Just play the game and don't go out there going, oh my gosh, I remember what they did win. Play your game. And that's how I feel so many teams go into these games against the Chiefs, even though the Chiefs aren't quite the team that we've seen over the last couple years. Just wonder at some point where you just say, let's just play our game. You know, because Denver, like you said, they were in that football game. Get some points. You go 20 plays. You get no points. What does that do to you when you walk over to the sideline? And you're like, seriously, what was that? How are we ever going to win a game doing this? |
| 4:33.0 | Even if you go 20 and you only get three you're |
| 4:35.0 | saying 20 plays we took this much time off the clock Patrick mohombs is on the sideline it's a close |
| 4:40.6 | game we're in good shape but just play your football game because i believe kansas city is beatable |
| 4:47.0 | as all teams in the a fc are beatable right now. Yeah, and it's weird. You said they're red hot. Like, are they? They've won five in a row by definition. But I can't describe, they won't let us fall in love with them this team. It's strange because Kurt, I don't know who they are offensively. Like it's not like the same old defense defense. I have no idea who they are. It's the first time in his career that Patrick Mahomes has gone two straight games about throwing a touchdown pass. So you think, well, it's Kelsey up and down the field. It's not Kelsey up and down the field. Kelsey has scored one time in the last seven games. It's not Kelsey. So it's Tyreek. Tyreek, Tyreeks' last 100-yard game was nine weeks ago. So they're kind of a running team. Mahomes is not throwing touchdowns. I don't know who they are. So it's almost like the rest of the AFC. They've won five in a row. They're going to go for their sixth straight division. They're the chiefs. But I'm not scared of them yet. And I'm not, to your point, I don't know what kind of ghost the Broncos were playing against last night about that was the 2019 chiefs that said, you got to go for it. Not really, put a field goal. Maybe that game goes completely differently. So five in a row on their way to a division, another home game, and yet I don't love this team. And I feel like every single week, Mahomes is explaining why they won in this sort of bizarre, wonky fashion. And the strangest part is it's their offense. It's not there yet. That's what happens, right? They set the expectation. I've always said that. You want to have expectations that people expect you to score 35 points a game. But then when you get that expectation, it's hard to live up to it every single week. I mean, you're saying, you're going, I don't know, they've only won five straight or what. It's like, they're doing what they have to do. Are you concerned about the offense? I think I would be if I looked at the rest of the AFC and I said, oh man, there's a dominant team out there. I look at all these teams and I go, I mean, the Patriots are, I mean, how many points they're going to score against you? The Titans, I'm not worried about anybody. So I still look at the Chiefs and go, I still know it's there. Even though I've seen it. That's kind of how I'm looking at it too, is I know it's there. Can they get it back? becomes a question question. I'm somewhere in between you and Kyle because I don't know what the team is, but I know what they look like. They look like Prima Holmes chiefs a little bit. Alex Smith Chiefs? Yeah, like Alex Smith would always come out. Remember this to really think about those Alex Smith playoff teams. They'd start the game really fast, look great. Then when it goes off Andy Reid's script, it was like, what's happening? And they never ended the game well. That's what's happening with this team. If you look at it, they've been held under 20 offensive points in three of their last four games. But specifically, even more staggering and weird and prima homesy than that, they score early on and they never find the end zone again. |
| 7:18.5 | Against the Packers, they went the final 51 minutes of that game without a touchdown. |
| 7:21.8 | Against Dallas, they went 44 minutes without a touchdown. |
| 7:24.6 | Last night they were 52 minutes without an offensive touchdown. |
| 7:28.1 | So there's some weirdness going on with that, Triggs. |
