locked on chiefs podcast. Welcome back, it's locked on chiefs. A couple of things

have gone on as the combine went through the weekend and now we're back to

what is preparing for the

off season in general and one of the things that the chiefs decided to do was very

interesting to me actually caught me pretty off guard I expected them to follow

through and continue to keep faith in Cam Irving.

They put a lot of faith into him to this point, but they elected to pass on his option, which will effectively make him a free agent at the beginning of the new league year.

What's your take on that and do you have a feel what that means?

Well, I think it just means that he didn't play up to the contract that he's got

and they're going to be looking in another direction hopefully maybe in the draft

maybe they're able to sign somebody that they can bring in.

To me it's not a huge surprise because his number was three million dollars and you and they're going to be looking for salary cap space, so it wouldn't surprise me if they're going to try to go find somebody that can play that position on the cheap.

Yeah, 3.2 I think is what they saved against the cap, which goes a long way, especially

when we know that despite the franchise tag coming down, we haven't seen official levying

of the franchise tag. They know that they're continuing to speak with Chris Jones's representation in an effort to try to get him in camp or O TAs or whatever it's going to be, but they have a little bit of time.

There's no pressing thing for that other than trying to figure out what your cap's going to be next year,

what's your feel for that after this situation?

Well, I think that's still up in the air, kind of how I talked about it on Monday's show when it came to the news.

The big thing is, is you still don't know what's going to happen with, you know, the salary cap and

the CBA. CBA is going to be something that should be available

hopefully by Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Maybe the very early part of next week
