Locked on Chiefs. I am Chris Clark. Today we have a little bit to talk about. Chiefs made a move over the weekend that really kind of surprised me. I'm sure it surprised a lot of you and we're going to get into that and what it really means for Kansas City going into this season and what it's going to mean for

NFL teams going into the future when it really comes to being able to sign some

guys that maybe we didn't expect them to be able to do. When I'm looking at

this specific move I'm talking about De Marcus Robinson

he will be back in Kansas City moving forward he will be back for one year at

this point he signed for a contract for almost 2.3 million dollars.

The first question that you would ask when you were looking at that contract number is

how is Kansas City affording a contract that expensive?

The answer is he is a mid-level exception player for the Chiefs this year.

This is a new thing under the CBA where teams are allowed to add a veteran with four years of experience at a reduced rate for the cap.

So the way this works, you get two players a year that you can do this for.

They have to have four plus years of experience so obviously at that point that is the big key

de Marcus Robinson has that so he fits this criteria.

Basically at this point he is signing a contract for

the 2.3 million.

To be exact, the number is 2.97,500, fully guaranteed for Robinson for 2020, so he will be on the chief's roster for just under 2.3 million dollars

Here's the big deal though. He only counts for around a million dollars on the chief salary cap in

20 that is the reason Kansas City was able to make this move that is the reason

that Demarcis Robinson is back in Kansas City what that does show you though is that he really didn't have a market.
