Hey, from CNN, I'm Afoma DK, but the five things you need to know for Tuesday, September 2nd.

Immigrations and customs enforcement will start a major federal enforcement operation, quote,

later this week in Illinois. That's what the state's lieutenant governor, Juliana Stratton,

tells CNN. She says the federal government hasn't coordinated with state or local officials, and she and other state leaders are pushing back against President Donald Trump's crackdown, saying she doesn't believe Trump is doing this for public safety.

What we know is that we are going to follow the law here in Illinois. We are going to do everything we can to protect our residents, and we're not

going to allow this president who wants to manufacture a crisis, who wants to, quite frankly,

make the military presence on American soil something that people normalize.

Trump is also zeroing in on crime in Chicago, vowing to make, quote, Chicago safe again,

and said Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, quote, needs help badly. According to police data,

at least 56 people were shot over Labor Day weekend, including seven deaths. The U.S. Space

Command will move its headquarters from Colorado to Alabama.

That's according to a source familiar with the matter.

The decision to go with Alabama comes from an April report by the Department of Defense Inspector General,

who could not determine the rationale for the move.
