All right, everybody, welcome back to another edition of The Teardown.

My name is Jeff Kluck, and I'm along with my coworker, Jordan Bianchi.

We are motorsports writers for The Athletic, and here we are in beautiful downtown Chicago.

It is obviously nighttime.

We thought we'd be doing this, I think, maybe before the sunset.

But that is just seemingly not to be the case for a Chicago street race.

I woke up today, didn't even bring my jacket, let alone an umbrella.

It was like 10% chance of rain.

And rain once again plagues this race all day long, seemingly,

ends up being shortened, a timed race for the first time in history, maybe, Jordan. Is that

correct? At least modern history. I think so, yeah. I can't remember another time the NASCAR race

was timed. Yeah. Well, yeah, I take that back. It's happened before. Not time, but there's been a lap where it would end, but not like a certain amount

of time, right?

I feel like in history, they have said, like, the race is going to end to this time

before.

Like back in the day, there was, like, darkness was coming and they're like, this

is the cutoff.

Okay. thought that was a lap where they'd say okay maybe i don't know i feel like i'm saying it wasn't

like a timer counting down to you know then anyway but then armoreola when he went in 20

in new hampshire didn't they say there's like 10 minutes left in the race or something or is that 10

laps i will have to go back now you're wondering now we've stumbled off to well i don't
