The neighbors and the relatives were curious about John, the son who was born miraculously

to aged priest Zechariah and his elderly wife Elizabeth, who had been barren. Jehovah used

Zechariah to answer that question. He explained that the long-awaited Messiah would soon

arrive and that John would prepare repentant people to recognize and follow that one.

But Zechariah did more than relate what his son John would do. As we will see in this article,

Zechariah's message was prophetic and it involves us today. From his message, we will learn

about three things we should cherish. One, the gift of salvation.

Two, the privilege of sacred service.

And three, the responsibility to preach.
