Pope Francis, back on December 8th of 2020,

announced the year of St Joseph would run all the way through December 8, 2021.

It's a grace filled time following COVID, but it's also unique and unprecedented in the history of the Catholic Church.

We've had the popes over the years call for many different kinds of years,

Jubilee years, Marion years, we've had eucharistic years, We've had years of faith, but never before has an entire year been consecrated to St. Joseph.

And to be perfectly honest, I'm excited.

Patrice Corde from a father's heart

was the document that Pope Francis promulgated

to announce this.

But it wasn't just an announcement.

It really was a statement. It was a word of faith from his heart to our hearts.

And there are lots of different things that I could draw from Patrice Corday,

but there are just seven things in particular I'd like to begin with because this will in effect lay the foundation.

First of all, Pope Francis spoke of St Joseph as a beloved father. That is he's one who is at the service of God for the plan of salvation.

And I'll be honest, I know what it means to be a father.

Now that I've been married almost 42 years,

and our oldest son is getting ready to turn 40 in the next year.
