around the book, Chasing Daylight. And we've been unwrapping the dynamics of

individuals who seem to have this uncanny ability to seize defining moments in their life, to seize

maybe even divine moments.

Because one of the amazing things about life and you'll see this as you live longer and longer is that you will be in the exact same moment with someone else and have very different momentum come out of that moment.

Which is why we've been diving into this particular moment in the

in the scriptures. It's a moment where Saul was king of Israel and

Jonathan was his son and they were facing incredible odds.

They had an army of just a few hundred going to war against the Philistines with tens of thousands.

And they only had two swords and the Philistines had horses and chariots and warriors and weapons.

And in every practical, reasonable measure, Israel had no chance. So Saul was not in any way motivated to pick a fight.

So he just decided to pull back and avoid the future that was waiting for him. But Jonathan, his son, got up in the middle of the night and he decided to wake up the one person that was in a sense obligated

to him and he went off and he picked a fight.

So I want to read here in 1st Samuel 14 beginning in verse 1.

It says, one day Jonathan son of Saul said there was young Arbor Bear.

Come, let's go over to the Philistine outpost on the other side.

But he did not tell his father. Saul was staying on the other side, but he did not tell his father.
