When I wrote Chasing Daylight over 10 years ago,

one of the things that really motivated me was this overwhelming

awareness of how many moments in my life I had missed. Well when you when you're

young time seems to move too slowly and as you get older it seems to move way way

way too fast. But all of us are passing through minutes and how many minutes of our lives have we not stepped into fully present?

Maybe it's the way we're designed as human beings, but we tend to think in large chunks.

We celebrate years, birthdays.

Sometimes we celebrate decades.

If we happen to be alive at the right moment,

we celebrate centuries.

We rarely celebrate months or weeks or days, unless of course you're

dating. It's always funny to be around someone who's dating just for a couple of weeks.

Well, we're celebrating.

It's our anniversary.

We've been dating for two months.

It's not going to last.

If you're celebrating two months in, you're setting way too low standards.
