Coming to you from my last day in Britain before returning to the United States. It's been a good trip.

Sad to leave Edinburgh. I'm actually recording this in London at the moment. I am here for a day.

I've got an interview down here before I fly out. In this year, for the first time ever,

this year in Britain, I wore a cowboy hat.

Now, if you don't know, if you didn't know this, if you wear a cowboy hat to Great Britain,

it legally makes you the ambassador to the United States when you visit.

If you go to England or Scotland, you wear a cowboy hat, from what I can tell, it's enshrined in law that anybody is just allowed to wander up to you and talk to you about anything remotely American because you, the guy in the cowboy hat, represent all Americans.

So people will wander up to me off the street and say, Why are you so smiley?

And do you own a cow?

And is your cow also smiley?

If so, why is American livestock so happy all the bloody time?

We find it infuriating.

Why can't you and your cows be more miserable like us?'

But this trip, in addition to questions about how smiley and cow-ridden I am,

a few people stroll up to me unbidden and said,

"'A bit scary in America right now, eh?

Did you hear about the conservative activist that was shot?

And indeed I have, and I'd like to talk about that today.

Now, you already know the broad details.

Activist and journalist Charlie Kirk was assassinated in Utah on Wednesday. It is a tragedy.
