Let's get into God's Word. 1 Corinthians chapter 9.

We'll actually finish the chapter today.

The verses 24 through 27 will be our text and I'll have you turn there and if you're able, I'll ask you to stand.

You can follow along with me as I read.

If not, that's all right, you can remain seated and follow along as well.

The Apostle Paul is by the Holy Spirit writing and says verse 24,

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, only one gets the prize run in such a way as to get the

price everyone verse 25 who competes in the games goes into strict training they do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown

that will last forever. Therefore, verse 26, I do not run like someone running aimlessly. I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, verse 27,

I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others,

I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Let's pray.

Lord, thank you for your word for this portion that we have before us this morning here in your word.

Lord, we want to give you our undivided attention

in anticipation of you through your word

and by your Holy Spirit speaking into our lives.

So Lord, will you speak? Will you speak clearly? We ask you for this. In Jesus

name, amen. You can be seated. Thank you. Today's teaching is part three of a series I've titled

Characteristics of Commitment.

It's becoming abundantly clear in our study through this chapter that the Apostle Paul

had an unwavering and unflinching commitment to winning the lost. He seemingly rises from the pages of

scripture and becomes for us an example of what it takes for a Christian to be totally committed to Jesus Christ.
