Most aviation accidents are in a result of a single malfunction or a single catastrophic

event. It's usually a series of smaller problems that happen that lead up to disaster.

Welcome to episode 11 of Fatal Voyage, the death of JFK Jr. on retired homicide detective

Column McLaren. In the last episode we heard how in the aftermath

that John Jr.'s plane crash, many believed he's sudden death could not have been an accident.

Among them, former National Enquirer editor Barry Levine.

JFK Jr.'s plane crash tragedy, all these years later, is still mirrored in some controversy

because there are conspiracy theories that believe that JFK Jr. did not lose control

of the plane, but in fact might have been assassinated while his plane was in the air.

And there's a couple stories behind this conspiracy theory.

Number one, you have some people who had been on the shore, off of Martha's Vineyard,

who believed that they saw some streaks of light in the air at the time Kennedy's

plane was believed to have gone into its death spiral, which led some theorists to believe

that the Kennedy plane could have been shot out of the sky with a laser-targeted weapon.

The belief on that is that the assassins could have been in a small boat off the shore

following the plane on radar to the point where they reached the point in the sky

where they were able to train their laser-guided missile to destroy the plane.

As we have heard, some of these reasons are more compelling than others,

but for my money, let's try to pin down exactly what happened that night.

And I want to follow what really matters to a detective in a proper investigation.
