Summary

[Chapter 5 of 8] In the search for answers Brittani retraces the last year of Braileigh’s life. As Braileigh struggled to find her path after high school, she ran into the typical young adult growing pains. Then on New Year’s Eve their family changed forever. Brittani and her father, Gary, recount the story of the agonizing aftermath of the tragedy. Resolution for a tragedy of this magnitude could never be singular, and this is a grief that the family will always carry. But it is in that grief that Brittani becomes who she is today, a fierce protector of the women who come into her orbit. 1:07.4	I'm Brittany Ard and this story is mine. It wasn't her normal, don't touch that sort of thing and just move on. And so she was doing some things that it was just not her typical braley way of things.

1:21.6	My dad didn't get that experience with me in high school. She did all of the normal high school stuff well.
1:31.0	She ended up not getting into the U.W.
1:35.0	Which is where she had applied.
1:37.0	It really threw her for a loop because it was probably one of the first goals that she didn't just sort of automatically reach.
1:46.0	It hit her pretty hard. She had been working at a restaurant in Magnolia, as a hostess.

1:56.1	and they're a little older,
1:58.8	smoking pot and drinking and sort of a little faster life than she had ever done before.
2:05.0	That transition from young teen to growing up into this woman
2:11.0	was not all roses.
2:15.9	She was going back to her mom and she was experimenting a little with drugs.
2:29.0	My mom had a incredible way of convincing you to be there for her. My mom opened her arms to Braley during that time that she was struggling.
2:35.0	When I wouldn't say my dad and I were critical of Brayley, but we were concerned and we were making that known.
