there's a moment I keep coming back to one of those moments that doesn't quite feel

dramatic when it happens but in hindsight it tells you everything about where we are

headed it's the moment when rules stop being broken and start being redefined in real time.

That's what I see happening now with the way power is being exercised, tested, and in some cases

deliberately bent by President Trump. And I don't say that lightly, or as some kind of abstract

political critique. I say it as someone who

spent years inside the machinery watching how the law is supposed to constrain behavior and how

quickly that constraint disappears when people decide the law is just another obstacle to be

managed rather than obeyed start with

something that sounds boring on paper the Presidential Records Act bureaucratic

technical easy to ignore if you don't understand what it really represents but Nick

Ackerman he's been writing that this is not about paperwork,

that it's about whether the presidency belongs to the office, or to the individual who

temporarily occupies it. And if the answer becomes the individual, well, then we are no longer

talking about a republic governed by continuity.
