To all of the power for loyalists and the group of five protesters, we are all having the wrong argument and debate. Because if we had an actual

tangible rubric to grade teams, we wouldn't have this infighting of group of five and power

four because there would be metrics to explain why teams are where they are. There would be no need

for an automatic group of five bid if we actually

used a recipe of legit numbers to find the best 12 teams. So you can scream on one hand that the

group of five gets no love and it's not fair. Or on the other hand, you could say only power four

teams should get in. The group of five should not be allowed.

But this whole vacuum has been created because of a lack of substance in rankings, which has opened the door to this class warfare between the two sides. We can talk about the merit of the

top four conference championship game winners getting an automatic bid, but in reality,

there should be no automatic

bids. Only the best 12 teams graded on a scale evenly across the board. The reality is some years,

there should only be Fow or 4 teams in the playoff. And other years, there should be one or possibly

multiple group of five teams in. Every year is not the same.

We saw Cincinnati make a four-team playoff. So pretending like the group of five never gets in

is burying your head in the sand. And to those who think a group of five teams should never get in,

you're pretty much doing the same thing. The argument we should be having is what are the metrics that we need to use to
