As you turn in your Bible to Matthew Chapter 16,

and we're going to read verses 13 through 20.

And this will be the establishing text for today, although we'll move around the Bible a little bit.

Matthew 16, 13 reads, when Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples saying, who do men say that I, the son of man, am?

So they said, some say John the Baptist, some Elijah and others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. And he said to them, but who do you say

that I am? Simon Peter seemingly alone, even though he was amidst the 12, Simon Peter answered and said,

You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.

Jesus answered and said to him,

Blessed are you, Simon Barzona,

for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you.
