Summary

One month on from Hamas’s attack on Israel killing 1400, Israeli forces have killed more than 10000 Palestinians in Gaza. The head of our Brussels office, Camino Mortera-Martinez asks Nathalie Tocci, director of the Institute of International Affairs in Rome, and senior research fellow Luigi Scazzieri what Europe's role is in this latest iteration of a decades long conflict, and where it should be.

0:39.3	the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas, launched a massive attack on Israeli grounds.
0:45.0	We can't know the true figures in this conflict because it is very difficult to verify them.
0:51.8	So I'm very wary of giving you exact figures,
0:55.2	but just so that we understand the magnitude of this conflict and the magnitude of what's
1:00.4	going on at the moment in the Middle East, the Hamasra Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip says
1:06.7	that around 10,000 Palestinians, half of them children have been killed since October 7th.
1:13.6	On their side, Israel says there's been at least 1,400 people dead.
1:20.2	And Hamas in the attack, they launched on October 7th, kidnapped at least 240 people.
