and I'm here today with my colleague Sam Lowe, who's a senior research fellow, to talk about

where we've got to with

the Brexit process, in particular the Northern Ireland on protocol issues. But to those people who are

bored of talking only about the protocol, be reassured. We're going to talk about other issues too.

We're going to touch on financial services, data, and even the carbon border adjustment mechanism

as potential big snags in the EU-UK relationship ahead.

But let's start with the protocol.

As we speak, there are talks going on between the EU and the British government on how to resolve the differences of the two sides have on it.

The British have complained that as it's currently written, the protocol that they signed up to two years ago is not working very well, that it's disrupting trade patterns, it's causing economic problems, it's socially disruptive and it's creating political problems too.

And it does seem to be the case that about half the people in Northern Ireland have problems with it.
