I'm Anton Spisak, a senior research fellow at the CR, and in today's episode we'll be taking

a look at one of the most consequential

trade relationships in the world, the one between the European Union and the United States.

Last summer, the EU and the US struck what looked like a landmark deal at President Trump's

Thurnberry resort in Scotland. The deal kept 15% tariffs on most European goods entering the US,

while the EU agreed to

remove most of its tariffs on American imports.

Not everyone in European capitals was happy about that.

Many felt the EU had given more than it got.

But the deal was supposed to deliver something valuable.

Stability in the EU's most important trading relationship, and with its closest security ally. Less than a year on, that stability looks fragile.

Just last Friday, on May the 1st, the US President threatened to raise tariffs on EU-made

caste with 25%, posting on his social network that the EU was not complying with the trade deal

at the grade last summer.

Meanwhile, the negotiations on still remain stuck, and a set of

sweeping new US trade investigations could draw the EU into fresh confrontation with the

Trump administration. So is the Turnberry deal holding, or is it unraveling? And what does it all

mean for European businesses trying to plan for the future? To discuss these questions, I'm delighted
