Many times when I respond to emails that I read from listeners, I try to bundle up a common sentiment that may be asked in a number of different ways into one basic thread.

And that thread I get from many people on many different issues is why is it that the Republicans keep selling us down the river?

Why is it that Democrats don't do that?

They fall in line and support their party line, even if they disagree with it.

And our folks, when they get in office, they turn on us.

Let me take a moment to do that.

Let me take a moment to explain that.

I want you to bear with me because this is a type of thing that doesn't get discussed enough.

You see headlines and press conferences and this happens and this happens.

And what you don't see is what's really happening that doesn't make for a news story that's been happening a very long time.

Let's take your average member of Congress.

Your average member of Congress is not a famous person.

It's not a celebrity.

It's a person who was probably already in another job where they built a little base.

So they could have been a Chamber of Commerce president.

They could have been a state representative.

They could have been a state senator.

They could have been any number of things that start to give them a little leadership role.
