Summary

So many celebrities claim they don't bother with the internet...but I've always thought that can't be true! The internet is so addictive and enticing and sometimes a crack in the matrix happens and we find proof that celebrities ARE online...but with burner accounts! Today I break down documented cases of celebrities, politicians, CEOs, and athletes getting caught tweeting from fake accounts, and explore the reasons why this might be. Kevin Durant's decade-long burner career. Mitt Romney as Pierre Delecto. The Whole Foods CEO who spent eight years on Yahoo Finance message boards. And Elon Musk, who apparently tweets as his baby, his mother, his father, a German man named Adrian, and an attack dog named babysmurf9000.

Hello, hello everybody. Welcome back to another episode of FluentMe Forward. Today, we are doing an episode all about the times that celebrities and famous people have been caught on burners or fake accounts, tweeting, pretending to be someone else and thinking that they weren't going to get caught. And we're doing all men for this episode, which is crazy. Because when I was going through the research and being like which celebrity

0:22.0

has been caught doing this, it was all for the most part men. So yeah, it's going to be all

0:27.7

dudes for today's episode. And I wanted to do this because I am a creep. Okay. Like I'm online.

0:34.3

I've always been online. And anytime a celebrity is like, I don't even bother with

0:38.4

that stuff. I have a flip phone. I don't get involved. They're getting involved. This was something I talked about on Patreon where I feel like Ed Sheeran is always giving quotes about how he has a flip phone and he's not involved. But then when you look into certain things, it's like he's kind of messy, you know, he's like blowing up what happened with him and Ellie Golding with that song.

He's in some sort of beef with the swiftologist. And also that internet is so addictive and fun. Like even if you're a celebrity or a famous person, how could you not be on it? And we have a storied past of people getting caught with their hand in the digital cookie jar. I'm basically going to

1:12.1

call it. So about two years ago, I did a public episode on the podcast that was all about

1:17.1

celebrity sexting moments. And like when their messages have been leaked, we were talking about

1:22.1

Jeff Bezos. We were talking about Anthony Wiener. And then over on Patreon, I think two years ago, I did an episode

1:28.3

all about celebrity Finstas. So this one is going to have elements of both of those, but these

1:32.7

are moments where like caught red-handed, we can see what somebody is tweeting and how they were

1:38.4

trying to be somebody else. Another fun aspect to this is when we discover these like fake tweets

1:44.0

or disguised accounts,

1:45.8

you can kind of get a little bit of insight into someone's psyche. Why are they disguising

1:50.0

themselves? What purpose is it bringing them to either defend themselves online or shit on

1:54.7

their enemies or talk about something else? Because each celebrity has like a different

1:58.5

avenue and outlet that they use for it. And I've always

2:01.8

found this so interesting. I think it's Lord, right, who talked about how she had a secret account

2:06.1

where she would review onion rings or Millie Bobby Brown. This really stuck out to me a couple

2:11.3

years ago when she said, I have an anonymous account and I review places. I review restaurants. I

2:16.9

review hotels because if I'm a

2:18.9

celebrity and everybody is reviewing me and critiquing my role, I'm just going to do the same back
