Summary

We're celebrating our LGBT followers the whole month of June. Whether you are part of the community or an ally like myself, listening to people's voices is an act of resistance in a time like this.

Drag Queen Flamy Grant hit national news when their song "Good Day" surged to the top of the Christian music charts. We hear how they grew up and what it took for them to come out as gay, and then begin a career as every bro-pastor's problem.

Please go find their new music--released this week! flamygrant.com/links

This recording will also be on YouTube 3 days after audio release.

The great thing is, whether you're in that community or whether you're an ally like I am,

0:23.3

there's so much to learn. I have been truly challenged during this time of recording and getting

to know these individuals. I have fumbled. I have made mistakes. I have learned. I've been

0:36.8

challenged and I'm leaving all that in,

0:39.8

because I want you to see how no matter how much we think we're an ally. It doesn't mean that we

can't improve and can't be challenged and learn. And part of that is by being embarrassed at things we might say or mess up.

I really hope that this encourages you, especially those who are younger or older,

1:04.4

who are still trying to negotiate their own identities.

1:08.7

I hope this gives you some peace, and I also hope, but you know, you laugh a bit.

1:34.4

Hey, it's Karen from Deconversion Therapy. And today we have the lovely, lovely, Flamy Grant with us. How are you?

1:38.4

Lovely, lovely. I am. I'm doing great. I'm a little, like I said, before we started recording, I'm in the middle of a big drag mess in my drag room here.

1:48.8

But you know what?

1:49.9

That's just, it's fine.

1:51.4

That's just life right now.

1:53.0

I can only imagine because, like, my makeup desk is a disaster.

1:59.9

So I can't, like, I'm assuming, add on top of that glitter and face

2:06.9

paints and all that. Wigs, costumes. Yeah, it's, it's rough. It's especially rough right now because I just

2:13.8

got back from Nashville where I recorded a music video.

2:17.9

Yeah.

2:18.2

So I literally had to just, my director was like, please bring every accessory you can
