Welcome to the 32nd episode of Congressional Dish.

I'm your host Jennifer Briny.

And for those of you who are new to this show,

this is a show where I tell you what's in the bills

that are passing the House of Representatives,

and in this case, a bill that didn't

pass the House of Representatives. Those of you who follow me on Twitter know that I'm talking about

the Farm Bill which I spent most of the week reading.

And man, what a week.

And you know, before I get into anything

that happened this week, can I just explain to you

what I've learned in the past six months about how Congress works.

Can I go off on that just a little bit because this is my first year where I'm

reading everything that happens in the House of Representatives so I'm

definitely learning a lot about not only what's in the bills but also the process

and this has been an eye-opening month for me because it's absolutely killing me. So, okay, this Congress

started in January with all kinds of crises, you know, the fiscal cliff and the

government almost shut down and it was kind of crazy.

And so they figure out all that stuff by like March.
