All right, today we've got a follow up to yesterday's thunderstorm drama.

Hi, I'm Dave. I've been walking

for fitness since 2013 averaging about 21,000 steps a day. I'm walking right now and would love to

have you join me for the next 10 minutes. If you caught yesterday's episode, you heard that I almost got caught in a thunderstorm.

I made it home five minutes before the skies opened up and the rain just fell like buckets.

But even more significantly, if you heard the end of the episode, you hear me at home on my back

porch, the rain is falling, and there's some thunder. Within 60 seconds of me recording that

conclusion to the episode, there was this brilliant flash of light, lightning, and instantly a loud

peal of thunder. So that thunderstorm was right overhead, which means I was within six minutes

of being caught outside with a thunderstorm right over top of me, which got me thinking,

what should I have done if I was further than six minutes from home, if I was actually caught

in a thunderstorm?

Now, the rain itself, you know, so what, no big deal.

You know, I get wet.

Sometimes that actually feels good. But being caught in a thunderstorm with lightning, you know,

hitting stuff all around me, well, that's a whole different deal. By the way, you know,

the odds are pretty small that you or I will be struck by lightning

in a given year.

It's like one in a million.
