I'm Peter Ernest, the Executive Director of the Museum. I served for some

36 years in the Central Intelligence Agency, largely as what is called an operations officer

or a case officer.

Every month will be bringing you interesting talks

with visitors, with authors, with others

who have something to do with the world of intelligence

and espionage.

My guest today is Marty Peterson.

I've known Marty for many years and I'm just so pleased to have her come and speak with us today.

Marty has had quite an extraordinary career.

She's a 32-year veteran of the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, and during that entire time she was in operations, which I have to say having been there was not the easiest time for women in operations

and Marty in that period had a very distinguished career and we are going to get a chance today to just touch on at least

one of the and I'll call it a highlight one of the operational highlights of her career.

So Marty, as I said, was in the agency for some 32 years.

Much of that time she was working on what we call Soviet East European targets

that is attempting to recruit people during the Cold War to provide information covertly to the to the US government. In addition

she served at other posts as well. I think Marty you spent some 10 years in in foreign assignments didn't
