Hello Catholics and everyone else welcome to your Hello, Catholics.

And everyone else, welcome to your home for pure Catholic pleasure.

It is the Catholic guy show.

And I hope if I do this, you guys aren't going to get mad at me.

I hope I don't get a ton of hate mail for how I'm going to open today's show.

But I'm going to open today's show by reading from the Bible.

I want to try something new.

I'm going to read the Bible.

You've got hate mail.

That doesn't sound like this show at all.

I'm going to start by reading the Bible and the context or the perspective I have in it is a lot of us,

if you're born and raised by going to church or you're some sort of a Bible-believing person or you read the Bible or something like that, it's a very easy thing to do to read the story

or hear the stories of the Bible and be almost immune to it, to just be looking for the point and not looking for the oddities of it.

So when I was in graduate school for theology, one of my professors regularly was drilling that into our heads.

When you're reading the Bible, do your best to act like you're reading it for the first time
