Landfall expected in hours. I'm Lisa Lissera, Fox News. The National Hurricane

Center says Milton is a category 3 storm packing winds of 120 miles per hour and life-threatening storm surge

damaging winds and flooding rains are expected across parts of central and

southwestern Florida. Landfall expected in New York or just south of Tampa Bay.

Fox says Steve Harrigan is in Tampa.

I can't imagine anybody getting in a car at this point with these winds and rain just down the

block for me. We just saw two cars total of fire engine and a

regular car so people still occasionally in their vehicles but it's hard to

imagine in these conditions. One of the real problems here is that this is the second storm in the area.

So there is so much debris along streets and the long houses, hundreds of cubic yards of

debris.

And when this storm hits, a lot of that debris could either be launched in the air like missiles or by the storm surge as well.

Officials in the Tampa area urging people to stay inside.

Polk County is 19 shelters open.

At the White House a short time ago, President Biden urged people in Milton's

path to take shelter.

Storm surge is still expected to be up to 13 feet. So I urge everyone in Hurricane Milton's path to listen to local officials and follow all the safety

instructions they give.

And the president called out former President Trump for as he put it, spreading lies about the government's response to Hurricane

Helene calling it un-American.
