Perhaps we would take this moment to see if we could set aside any judgments or frustrations or annoyances with what's been happening in your day or what's happening

in the world and summon to ourselves a spirit of gratitude, a place in ourselves where we are cherishing,

cherishing all the many beautiful little things that make up a life.

It is sometimes just a choice, just a thing you decide to do inside yourself,

a perceptual shift that you make.

But it's funny how in the normal course of our lives,

that little shift seems elusive.

But then sometimes life kind of thrusts it upon you.

If you were here last week, you know we got some unfortunate news in our family.

A close family member,

has gotten an unfavorable diagnosis, and it's not good news,

and it's hit everybody in the family like a sucker punch.

We're all reeling a little bit.

Everyone's okay right now for the moment,

but it's clear that we've got some serious hardship in our future

and everybody's a little bit in shock.

And so there's this heaviness to that, you know,

to mortality and sickness.

And then there's also the paradox of it.

There's that.

There's the paradox of it. There's that. There's the difficulty of it.
