Welcome to a very special episode because we are opening our archives, opening our vaults, and revisiting a case that has really resonated with each of us.

We're picking a case each over the next two weeks.

And this week it's your term, Betham.

Yes. And the case I've chosen to revisit is an episode from 2022, when we looked at the life of and the crimes of Paul Gad, more commonly

known as Gary Glitter. In this episode that we're re-relacing, you will hear me take you through

the crimes that Gad was eventually convicted of, but also his life and career up to the point of incarceration.

Since our episode came out, Gad was automatically released from HMP the Vern, a low security prison in Portland in Dorset in February, 23, and this was after serving half of his

fixed term determinant sentence. In 2015, he had been sentenced to 16 years, and at the time of his

release in 2023, he was 78 years old, surely old enough not to be a danger to society. But no, the absolute creep was back behind bars just weeks later

after reportedly trying to access the dark web and images of children.

The reason I've chosen this as my re-release case

is because I was reminded of this episode and of how blatant and in plain sight

Gad was, yet how easily he was not suspected, when we read our book club book with Patreon supporters.

The book was by Andy Woodward, and it's an incredibly brave account of speaking out about abuse,

and it's called Position of Trust. speaking out about abuse and it's called

position of trust. The way that paedophiles such as Gad and others like Jimmy Saville and

Rolf Harris were able to put on a charming face that fooled so many makes me really, really mad.
