The title of our episode today is a revolution of common sense, which I copied from Scott

Jennings' new book, which is about to come out.

We're about to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our own revolution, our own fight against

the British monarchy that resulted after a long war and our becoming the United States

of America.

In that 250-year history, we have gone from a constitutional

convention that established us as a nation based on the rule of law and the preservation

of fundamental rights under our Bill of Rights to a civil war that almost broke us apart as a nation,

to Western expansion that made us a country from the Pacific to the Atlantic, and to the vast and many think frankly dangerous

expansion of the size and power of the federal government in the past 100 years. In the last

10 months, I think we have seen more action from a president. The last time we saw this much done

by a president was in the first year of Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the 1930s. Now, Scott Jennings has a new book about that,

which perfectly describes what's been happening for the past year in Washington. It's published

by Harper Collins. Good choice, by the way. They published a book that John Fondon and I wrote

about how Eric Holder mismanaged the Justice Department.

Yeah, good people.
