joining us. Well, thank you so much for having me. Why did you decide to tackle this topic?

I mean, it's a fascinating one. Well, I mean, I've been a science journalist for about 20 odd years now, and a lot of that

time, I've been fascinated with the human mind, you know, why it is that we think the way we do,

why we have these amazing brains, but also why there are these kind of glitches that seem to come

as part of the deal. So,

you know, our inability to focus, you know, that creativity turns out when it's least convenient

to actually be useful, anxiety, depression, you know, all these kind of downsides of our human

minds. And I've always been interested in, well, what can we do about that? What can we do to

improve the way we think and the way we feel? And for a lot of years, that was really focused

in the head, you know, talking about brain plasticity and what we can do to change our brains.

And that was what my first book was about. But one of the things that came out of that was that

treating your brain as if it's not attached to the rest of you is kind of a really strange way of thinking about it because clearly things you do with your body affect the way you feel and I've known for I have a very boisterous dog who may or may not burst in through the door any minute

who rags me out for long walks. And, you know, if I'm stuck on a piece of work, I down tools, I go for a walk,

I feel better. It clears my head. You know, that's been known for a long time. Why is that, is what I wanted to know. You know, why does dancing make us feel happy? You know, what can we do
