We're going to eventually make it over to Luke 7, and I'm going to eventually give a little bit of a review

from something we covered, not this past Sunday, but the Sunday before, when we begin to talk about Mary's

anointing of Yeshua for burial. We're going to go into some different

aspects of that, but I want to talk tonight specifically about how the spirit of the

Pharisee is the chief enemy of peculiarity. The spirit of the Pharisee is the chief

enemy of peculiarity.

And I'm going to minister tonight from the subject, a tale of two Simons.

A tale of two Simons.

Remember Matthew 26, Mark 14, and John 12 share the story of Mary of Bethany,

breaking her alabaster flask of perfumed oil over Christ at the communal

home shared by a company living in an ascetic lifestyle.

A group of people that I believe were a group of people classified as the Ascines.

The Ascines had set themselves to live as a particular sect set apart from the things of the world.

They became the third prominent sect of people living in community during the time of Yeshua.

The Pharisees, the Sadducees, and the Ascines. The Ascenes were a group of people that were given to hospitality,

generosity, caring for the poor, the antithesis of everything the Pharisees and Sadducees stood for.

Whereas Pharisees and Sadducees lived for pomp and ceremony and to dot every eye and cross every

tea, the Ascines were willing to live among and around a group of people

who seemingly had nothing to offer many of them were lepers many of them were outcast many of them would

have had physical deformations that would have caused them to be rejected by a society that saw everything

going on in the natural as a result of something corrupt going on in the invisible.
