So a few years ago when we were just starting to noodle around with the idea of maybe doing a podcast.

And I said, David, let's bring our mics over to Carl Reiner's house, because I'm having lunch with him anyway,

and he's got a million stories.

I didn't know, you know, this was a little bit of a test for the concept.

I didn't know how precious this recording would be because he passed, you know, a few months later.

This might be the last recording of Carl Reiner

in conversation and in lunch. And I have to tell you that of all the people, and you've introduced

me to a few legends, hopefully I've introduced you to a few good people, but Elaine May,

which people can check out.

But Carl Riner was really the first legend who you took me over for lunch once and somehow it became, I think it was like 25 lunches with Carl.

And the lunch you're about to hear is not only Carl, but also someone very, very special and important in

Carl's life who was also passed. Can you tell a little bit about George? The most darling human

being, my buddy George Shapiro, was Carl's manager. He also happened to be his nephew by marriage.

In other words, Carl's wife Estelle was George's aunt.

And who else did George manage so long and lovingly?

Just some other guy named Jerry Seinfeld.

That's right.

And when you see the credits for

Seinfeld, you see the company Shapiro West as producers, and that was George Shapiro and his partner.
