Deuteronomy chapter 22, verse 1.

You shall not see your brother's ox or his sheep going astray and ignore them.

You shall take them back to your brother.

And such begins this chapter, filled with various laws about how God wanted his people to love one another.

Like this is the practical outworking of the two great commandments that Jesus gives us in the New Testament.

Commandment number one, love the Lord your God with all your heart,

soul, mind, and strength. And the second commandment, Jesus says, is like it. Love your neighbor as yourself.

Love others. As you love yourself, take care of others. Look out for others. In this specific picture

of looking out for each other. And so we pray, very simply, God, help us to love

others like this. Today, specifically, O God, help us today to love other people around us as ourselves, our friends, family members,

and God, even our enemies. Help us to love them as ourselves. God, help us to love those who are in need as ourselves.

God, help us to love those who are struggling as ourselves. God, we pray that you would help us to love

people in this world by looking out for them,

caring for them in your church.

It would help us to love our brothers and sisters like this.

And then those without Christ, God, help us today to just in practical, simple ways,

go out of our ways to look out for others and care for others,
