Welcome to Dear Prudence. I'm Janay Desmond Harris, and I am thrilled to say that Dear Prudence

is back. If you don't know, Dear Prudence is Slate's long-running advice column, and I have the

honor of being the fifth Prudy. We haven't had a podcast version of the column for a while. So many

people have asked for it, and I'm happy to be able to give the people what they want. Every week,

I'll be joined by a guest who brings their own

unique perspective to responding to your letters. Today, that guest is Nadera Goff.

Nadera is an associate writer of culture here at Slate. She's also an incredibly kind colleague

who's smart, supportive, and so, so wise. This episode, we'll tackle a letter

from someone worried their partner has been sent to conversion therapy. We'll also hear from a young

person who can't avoid a family member who abused them. But not all the questions are so tough.

I promise we'll have a little fun too.
