The mission of EmpowerHer is to empower, support and connect girls and young women who have experienced the loss of their mothers. These girls and young women up to the age of 24 are paired with women 25 and older who have also experienced the loss of their mothers. They can meet up in-person or virtually around the globe.

0:57.5	Tell us about the origins of Empower Her, how it came to be. Sure. You know, so my interest in forming a nonprofit like
1:05.0	Empower Her was fueled by the loss of my mom. My mother Kit died of breast cancer when she was 37 years old,
1:13.6	and I was nine years old.
1:15.9	And out of the gratitude that I had for all the support our family received, you know,
1:22.5	just an army of family and friends who rallied around us, I formed empower her for girls like me and really just
1:30.1	recognized a need in the community, a need across this country, particularly for support for girls
1:36.7	who've lost their mom. In order to be a supportive friend to somebody who's lost a mom,
1:42.5	how can we interact with friends in a way that's sensitive
1:47.1	and acknowledging that their mom existed? Oh, yeah. I think there are a couple of things. And look,
