Summary

Capture of escaped fugitive Danelo Cavalcante manhunt over Residents of the Philadelphia suburbs where an escaped inmate has spent two weeks hiding in woods and fields, eluding hundreds of police officers engaged in a high-tech manhunt, said they could finally “open the blinds” again after he was captured on Wednesday morning, hemmed in by a tactical unit and subdued by a police dog. A “heat signal” detected by a federal law enforcement aircraft led the authorities to Danelo Cavalcante, 34, who was sleeping with a stolen rifle in a wooded area about 15 miles north of Chester County Prison. The Brazilian national had clambered up a jail wall and escaped on Aug. 31. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/otcpod1/support

We still don't know who pulled the trigger. Hello everyone and welcome to police off the cuff, real crime stories.

I'm your host, retired NYPD Sergeant Bill Cannon, a 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

Great day for law enforcement in Pennsylvania, the apprehension, of course, of fugitive Danilo Cavalcante.

1:14.1

Just, you know, unwavering support for law enforcement during this, which would have been the 14th day, was the 14th day of Danilo Cavalcante being at large.

1:27.3

And I never, ever doubted that law enforcement was going to apprehend this person.

1:32.9

I was hoping and praying that it would occur before he could do some damage,

1:38.5

before he could hurt someone else.

1:41.2

And he's the one that was out there breaking into homes, stealing a firearm.

1:48.2

He's the one that was wanted for two murders, one in Brazil, one in the United States,

1:55.2

sentenced to a life term and escaped. And many people out there and, you know, content creators,

2:03.6

journalists were all doubting the skill and the precision and the professionalism, law enforcement.

2:11.3

Because guess what? The public is spoiled by how good law enforcement is. And that's my humble

2:17.3

opinion.

2:18.7

Law enforcement time and time again apprehends these dangerous fugitives in a matter of hours, a matter of days.

2:27.4

In this instance, for many reasons, it was not going to happen.

2:32.9

However, they never wavered that brilliant lieutenant

2:37.8

colonel, Bevins, who I say brilliant, because he addressed the press. There he is. There's a

2:44.4

picture of him in front of the firehouse addressing the press. And he was such a consummate

2:49.9

professional that he never wavered off his standards, off of his professionalism,

2:55.6

answered all their stupid questions.
